Dodged some terror today. When I tried to do my morning wake-up e-mail check, I found that here was no dial tone. So I started checking phones throughout the house, and they were all out, too. I tell the 'rents, and after some shouting, they determine that the service hasn't been cut off, it's an actual service issue. The service guy shows up, tests everything in the house-the jacks, the phones, the cords, everything checks out, until…
It's my modem. The modem in my computer, the modem through which I do 90% of communication to the outside world (including these lovely little missives).
I was, understandably, distraught. I'm in no position to afford a new modem right now.
Then there was good news-I rebooted my computer, and everything was fine. So I no longer need to worry. Woo-hoo.
Moved some things today, also.
