I will also say that one thing worrisome about this is that HBO tried something similar, albeit bleaker, with Carnivale. And where is that show now?

Maybe. Most of the action in Preacher was fistfights or gunplay, though, so I don't know that it would be too costly. The single most expensive arc would be War in the Sun, I'd imagine.

And the scenes taking place in Heaven, probably.
