Hm. Interesting, because philosophically, I think you're probably allowed to stab just about anybody. It's just the consequences that you're not willing to take upon yourself. So really, the problem lies within the fact that the utility you'd get from stabbing those people isn't worth the price.
I wonder if perhaps you just like yourself too much to want to pay that price.
Whoa. Now that's a breakthrough.

I disagree. I would say that the list of people I'm allowed to stab has, at most, one name on it (my own). Indeed, isn't the point of having laws against such things to establish very clearly and concretely "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO STAB ANYONE ELSE"?

I suppose it depends on your perspective. Does the fact that you're not allowed to drive more than 55mph on an expressway prevent you from doing so? No. It just informs you that society has assigned consequences to doing so in the hopes that you will decide not to.
