Sending out a big hey-howdy to the new readers I know are out there.
You'll know we've finally achieved true equality for vegetarians when we have soy-based "veal".
Work is ongoing difficulty, but tomorrow there is money.
My heart stopped briefly today when I read that The Criterion Collection was putting together a set for Steven Soderbergh's "Traffic".
My thoughts have had a decidedly unprofound cant to them recently. One wonders why.
I enumerated today the Winter Olympic events I really want to see:
Bobsled (all forms)
Luge (again, all forms)
Skeleton (love that sledding)
Hockey (men's and women's)
Short-track speedskating (Who needs to see "Rollerball"?)
And, of course, Curling (Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!)
Figure skating blows.
Speaking of things that blow, Valentine's Day is coming up next week, and I want your help. I'll get more into my feelings about V-Day on V-Day, but for now I'm looking for ideas on films that piss on love and romance. I don't mean things that are about people falling in love without doing gooey romance; I'm talking about movies where anyone who tries to love gets squashed. To give you my classic pair of examples, I offer "The War of the Roses" and "Your Friends & Neighbors". Now I want to hear yours. Send them to johnsmoviepool@aol.com.
Today's Link Of The Day is sweet, sweet crank file. http://www.tubcat.com/
